Embracing Mount Royal Hotel Downtown Banff

Being able to escape for a little while to explore areas we love is something that we’ll as a family never say no to. We’ve been having so many great trips to Banff lately for work and each trip we learn or see something new that we haven’t before. Getting to explore and get into nature is really fun for us. Staying somewhere new or even exploring stops that we’ve been before but just love enough to go again and again and again.

Entry Hall Tree Storage & Bench

Our entryway has been an empty room in our home for a long time now. It was a clutter only zone for jackets, shoes, and bookbags. The dumping ground for everything! I’ve been trying to figure out how we could really utilize this space and organize it to make life just a little easier when coming and going. Especially in the mornings on the way out the door for school. Drew and I were super excited to get started on making this happen with Home Hardware. Our building gurus! It was an easy enough process that I’m  going to share with you today. Everything we used was found at our local Home Hardware!

Ice Skating on Frozen Lake Louise | Winter Guide What you need to know

Well, with Winter quickly approaching I thought I would share some things to know in case you’re planning a Winter trip. We couldn’t recommend visiting Lake Louise in the Winter more, because it’s truly just as fun and as beautiful in Summer and Winter!

Ice skating on frozen Lake Louise has been on my bucket list since Owen was a baby. We had watched this commercial and a quick clip of someone ice skating on Lake Louise just caught my attention and I knew one day I was going to make it happen. It was just the most beautiful view and honestly felt like a very “Canadian Tradition” to do.

My First Pair of Transition Glasses with the help from IRIS

I got my first pair of transition glasses!

GUYS, they are blowing my mind. I’ve had them for about a month now and they are literally the coolest thing I ownnnnn. I can’t get enough of them!

Before I got them into my hands I started to research more about transition glasses. I read everything I could online and then immediately made an appointment at my local IRIS to pick out and order my first pair. Leading up I really thought about the colour and design I wanted to go for. Because let’s be honest, it’s such a cool technology for eye wear, to own prescription glasses and have the lenses transition into sunglasses. How easy is that, to just walk out of the house wearing your prescriptions and not even having to worry about changing into sunglasses or even remembering.

Storm Chaser Feature Wall with Rocky Mountain Decals | Owens Room

Back again with some more wallpaper inspiration!

I simply love Rocky Mountain Decals wallpaper and decals. They always offer the best selection and when it arrives its so easy for me to do. I never worry or stress out about applying it. It’s so easy to do. It comes in rolls wrapped up in a box and I open it up. Each sheet in the roll comes numbered according to keep it really organized. Then it’s a sticky wallpaper that doesn’t destroy walls or stretch out. It keeps it shape perfectly and if you do mess up it makes it so easy to lift and reapply to get the most even and perfect straight line.

The Marmalade Motel | Nova Scotia

Well, I have to say it was quite a treat to be able to visit The Marmalade Motel in Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. My son Owen and I made a one night stop on our way through from Liscombe to Mahone Bay. When we pulled up it was just so serene and quiet, I knew it was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind a little. We pulled up as soon as well saw the sweet little signs on the edge of the road. We checked our email for our keycode and located beside the door was a little box where we could open it up with our special code and unlocked our door.

A Foggy Visit Peggy’s Cove Nova Scotia

When we were kids I remember piling up in our family van and heading on route, the lighthouse route. In my head, as a young kid, this ride felt like an eternity. When in reality we were very lucky to live so close to this Nova Scotia landmark, Peggy’s Cove. I’ve always loved our visits here, even if the road trip felt longer than usual. By the time we arrived, got out and stretch our legs it was the beauty part of it all to see the lighthouse just standing there surrounded my monstrous rocks and sea.

Easy DIY Blanket Ladder

Fall is around the corner and we are gearing up for cooler & cozier evenings inside. Every Fall and Winter we bring out the blankets we have stored away awaiting these cooler seasons. A lot of the time we run out of storage and I’ve always loved the concept of blanket ladders around a living room or bedroom. Easy to spot in a room and to snag one off for the kids and ourselves.

A Day Visiting Lunenburg Nova Scotia

To be quite honest to visit Lunenburg, I would have to suggest more than just a day. But growing up around here I spent a lot of time touring this beautiful and charming little Nova Scotia town of Lunenburg. I spent many of field trips as a kid visiting the Lunenburg Fisheries and the Bluenose II when it was docked. This time visiting I really wanted to open up my inner tourist and show my little guy around and teach him the history of this fishing town.
