Yup, you read that right. Every year at about this same time of year, our whole family rounds up for our traditional eye exam at IRIS. It’s honestly a fun time of year too, because that’s when I know that school is about to start soon and that everyone is all geared up and prepared for the rest of the school year. Change up glasses or the prescription. Whatever it may be, everything eye related we get covered at IRIS.
The staff at IRIS are so awesome and helpful. Friendly and patient. They have a wealth of really good information where we leave every time feeling like we learnt something new. We have been visiting IRIS for 6 years now and every visit I always feel comfortable and safe knowing that we are looked after. This visit we had the pleasure of having Dr. Jean. He was super efficient and thankfully mentioned that Owens’ left eye is improving. That his eyes are looking very healthy and strong!
Eye exams are routine and very easy. Ella started at 3 years old her first visit. Each year gets easier for her as she gets older and speaks more. Owen got his first pair of glasses at IRIS when he turned 5 years old. They start by checking vision screenings and bring them in for a much more detailed eye exam. Each child takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
In Owens’ case it’s always really nice to have that reminder every year for him just how important it is to care for his glasses too. As well as having the blue light protector with as much screen use we use in a day. We also always like having the update on his eyesight and what sort of eye exercises they both need to work on to improve eye health!
For children under the age of 18 that reside in British Columbia MSP covers the cost of yearly eye exams. Which is another really awesome bonus!
Call your local IRIS location today and book your family’s next eye exam! Start the yearly back to school tradition like us!
