Embracing Mount Royal Hotel Downtown Banff

Being able to escape for a little while to explore areas we love is something that we’ll as a family never say no to. We’ve been having so many great trips to Banff lately for work and each trip we learn or see something new that we haven’t before. Getting to explore and get into nature is really fun for us. Staying somewhere new or even exploring stops that we’ve been before but just love enough to go again and again and again.

Mercedes GLC 300

Just a couple weeks ago our family had another really amazing opportunity to visit Banff once more. We piled in the Mercedes GLC 300 SUV. Lots of space and room for road trips like these. Heated seats and bluetooth. Driving in high definition with touch screen with all the bells & whistles. Modern aged driving with all the classic cozy feels if home were inside a vehicle. Drew loved the engine power and of course how easeful it drove. Tons of trunk space and even more in seating for the whole family. No one felt on top of each other. Triple action fans surrounding all of us. The look of the GLC 300 is just show stopping and such a gorgeous vehicle to drive.

Off we went for a for a very long car ride from Chilliwack -> Banff. I’d say by now the kids have the whole road trip thing down pat. I’ve never seen such amazing kids get through such a long car ride and not complain. Drew and I are so thankful for it!

We made our way to Mount Royal Hotel just down town Banff. Located directly in the epi-center of Banffs downtown. Where shops and restaurants line the streets and the possibilities are really endless. The frosty mountain top views surrounding the area and people are happy bustling down the side streets sightseeing. Mount Royal Hotel dates back to 1908, it’s a historical landmark that has since then undergone major renovations but still giving that old century feel mixed with beautiful modern twists.

PARKING

First we found parking located in the back of the hotel. It’s free! I went in and checked ourselves in, showed our proof of vaccination, collected all of the important stuff like our keys and we made our way up to our room.

OUR ROOM

Inside we found two very comfy and stylish. I might add beds for the kids and one for Drew and I. Fully equipped bathroom, coffee, tea, television, lots of storage, alarm clock, phone charging stations and some comfy chairs to relax in. Our kids vegged out for a minute watching tv to unwind a little and recharge before hitting the rooftop hot tub!

ROOFTOP HOT TUB

Late that night we went to the hot tub rooftop, located literally on the roof, where you can see views of the whole downtown and snow capped mountains.

RESTAURANTS & DOWNTOWN

After that we got ourselves ready and headed downstairs for dinner, right in the hotel lobby is Tony Romas. All of us filled our bellies up and took a walk around the shops late at night and shopped! Grabbed some candy and souvenirs then caught some sleep for the night!

BANFF GONDOLA

The following day we headed up to one of our favourite spots right in Banff. The Banff Gondola. It’s fun for the whole family and each time we walk along the board we walk up to the old weather station. We spend a decent amount of time checkin out the activities inside and playing with the interactive area. Grab some coffee or lunch at the Sky Bistro and head back down. All in all we spend a good two-three hours here really just taking it all in.

The top floor of the lookout centre is literally one of my favourites where you get this amazing aerial view. There are warming igloos to sit in and cozy up. Including fireplaces and chairs. It really is fun for the whole family even just the gondola ride up and down get my kids so excited!
