For many Halloweens we’ve been struggling with costumes for Owen. Mostly because he is that fan of costume masks but makes it sort of difficult when you wear glasses. Of course he needs to wear them to stay safe. But we have figured out a few fun Halloween Costume Ideas that can also make his glasses a part of his costume. Literally! We’ve ditched the mask every year and brought out the face makeup and work around his glasses.
Staying safe Trick or Treating is a huge part of costume wearing as well and protecting those eyes and yourself from any dangers is very important. So always make sure you wear your glasses or contacts.
We’ve been playing with some fun ideas and while it isn’t always easy it can be super fun to also dress up along with your child so maybe they can have fun with yah! Owen and I came up with the idea of dressing up as Steve Urkel (aka Nerds) and well it was a lot of fun. Super easy little dress up to with some dress shirts, suspenders and bow tie from our local thrift store along with our handy dandy IRIS eyewear. Knowing Owen we’ll most likely turn into zombie nerds the night of Halloween, because well we like adding the effect of gore! Just a little.
10 Halloween Costume Ideas with Eyewear.
- Steve Urkel (aka Nerds)
- Harry Potter
- Old Man
- Mad scientist
- Superman (Clark)
- Where’s Waldo
- Peter Parker from Spiderman
- Garth Waynes World
- Dwight The Office
- Napoleon Dynamite
To be completely honest, a lot of these ideas work great for adults as well! Hahaha We love to have fun on Halloween and always dress up. I would never want Owen to feel any different with his costume because of his glasses. So it’s always a great one incorporating ideas to blend it all in together. And more often than not it turns out to be one of his favourites. Of course with any of these ideas you can also turn them into some really awesome “zombie” effects as well!
Add on some protective reflectors and wear those glasses my friends. Happy Trick or Treating in style!
