DIY a Christmas Tree Box This Holiday with Home Hardware

Dressing up the bottom of the Christmas tree is a tradition most families have at their home when decorating the family Christmas tree. Normally we have a fabric tree skirt that runs below, but year after year we are always struggling with it. By struggle I mean the dogs want to rip it out from under the tree and either sleep on it or tear it apart. Which becomes quite the thing in our home.

We wanted to create a Holiday collaboration project with Home Hardware this year. We thought to ourselves, wouldn’t this be a great idea to help solve that case but also give the bottom of the tree style and still hide that metal tree stand that’s always sticking out haunting us!

To say that this one was an easy project would make you laugh because it was really easy to whip together and quite honestly the supplies are minimal and budget friendly. Which is always a bonus for us.

We found everything we needed for this handy little project at our local Home Hardware store. Super easy and efficient to find. We grabbed a few L hinges, 2 locks, white paint we had left over, polyfill for the cracks, nails and of course the wood.

WHAT YOU NEED:

● Nails

● 2 Locks

● Polyfill

● Sandpaper

● 8 Small L hinges

● BeautiTone Paint

● Pine Wood Cut 11” x 11”

● Detail Wood Strips cut at 1”x1” (3 placed at the top, 2 on the sides, 3 in the middle marking the pattern X)

HOW TO:

First Step: So, you’ll want to figure out how big your box needs to be to house your tree stand. Ours was cut and sized at 11”x11”.

Second Step: Cut your pine pieces out to size. Nail all four sides together and sand it down.

Third Step: We added some small cut out details on the front of the box for more design. But this is where you can really get creative with setting up your own style.

Fourth Step: We left one side open to fit securely under the tree and placed locks on both sides so we could lock it in place.

Fifth Step: Fill in all the holes around your box using PolyFill. After waiting for it to dry completely we painted it!

I loved how it came together and looks perfect under the tree! As time goes on, I think we might add some sentimental things like the kids hand prints or our last names, years etc. This piece will be in the family for many years to come!

Canadian Blogger Holiday Home Tour | Loving Littles Blog

Hey Friends!!

If you haven’t already watched it, myself and 5 other Canadian Bloggers put together a fun series of Insta-Stories to showcase our Holiday Decor in our home. Decorated and all themed CHRISTMAS!! How fun! You can still watch it for a little bit longer (24hour rule on stories!) But if your to late, thats ok, because we are basically sharing everything on there here today. Along with links and tags to shops and pieces we own!

As well as I’m tagging a couple DIY’s and very inexpensive ideas to decorate your home. Because it doesn’t need to cost a lot of money to turn your home into a dreamy Holiday Home.

First off we will start in the entry room… Newly renovated. I haven’t even posted before photos yet. You’ll be seeing those soon..

Entry Room

After this room we snuck upstairs to our Living Room/Play Area. Where the main event stands tall and pretty. Our flocked Christmas Tree from Minter Gardens. It’s beautiful!

Play Area

In the living space we have all of our stockings hung on the mantel and some fresh greenery along the top.

Living Space

For the kitchen the light was just to dark for me to even snap any photos. The biggest piece we added there was garland around the very top of our shelves along the whole one side of the kitchen.

Then across the room we have the dining room. I set the table so that it’s usable at any moment. Something thats simple but fancy! Greenery, candles, wine, brass ornaments. Very woodsy and outdoor feel which I love, it makes it feel so cozy in this space!

Dining Room

Along the one side of the wall in the dining room we have this antique hutch I found years ago. There I placed our Google Home Max for Christmas music, candles, a few other little decorations I have picked up along the way including some DIY’S!

So starting with a little celebratory drink. Something easy, something that chances are you’ll have the ingredients already in your pantry ready to whip out for any occasion. Recently, we were able to attend the Patron Mixologists Event. Where all 4 of Canadas top mixers came together to win our votes on best mixed drink with Patron! It was a fabulous night and with that we even had the chance to bring home a little for ourselves!

Spring TableScape with Bed Bath & Beyond

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post with Bed Bath & Beyond all opinions are of my own and align with our lifestyle.

So sad this weekend is over! Our weekend was very busy like all the others, so busy in fact that this cold came back again and completely wiped me of any energy to spare this evening! Drew and I spent all yesterday browsing Bed Bath & Beyond preparing for our new dining room look. We were able to do a full shop and include lots of favourites shown here to get ready for Spring. Both of us get so excited when we get to fully browse for the home is this huge store, like kids in an adult candy shop!…

Fairmont Vancouver for the Santa Claus Parade

Our family visit to the Fairmont Vancouver to watch our first ever Vancouver Santa Claus Parade was by far one of our most memorable family weekends away. To start off I’m not going to get into detail the stress we endured to make it there with rush hour traffic. So lets skip that part! The boys had decided that they also wanted to watch the hockey game at Rogers Arena before hand. The Toronto Maple Leafs (Drew’s favourite team) were in Vancouver for the only time this year to play the Canucks. They had the best time together! It was one of their first games together as well so it was extra special….

Sweet Braided Blueberry Pie

We’ve officially entered that baking time of the year. Have you started?? I’m not as quite caught up as I would like to be but soon I’ll be getting my butt into gear. I started with this really simple sweet blueberry pie. Thanks to Klassen Farms in Chilliwack, I was able to recently load up on some of their really tasty frozen blueberries!…
