D.I.Y- Framed Bird’s
As many of you know I’m a sucker for anything DIY. Don’t get me wrong I love a random splurge on home decor. But if I can find something and up-cycle it, I’m doing it!
This oil painting I snagged it for FREE! I was so excited, and yes it is terribly ugly in person. But I saw potential, if for only just the frame. I decided to paint it. Normally, I buy chalk paint but in the middle of night I knew exactly what to do with this “fixer upper”. With no chalk paint insight I got really creative and made my own!
Chalk Paint:
1 cup paint
1/2 cup Baking soda
I gave the frame a coat of primer, just to make sure I really covered up the ugly. Then I did two coats of my homemade chalk paint. Finishing with a clear coat of seal. I found the homemade chalk paint a little more grittier than the store bought brands.
Luckily, I had gone to Spruce Collective (Abbotsford, B.C) two weeks prior and bought the bird poster for $5.00. Normally they would fit into an ikea frame, but I managed to fit it into my framed oil painting.
I’m very happy with how this turned out!
