Well we snuck away for about 5 days on our very first longgg road trip with the kids. A total of 6 hours to our first stop visiting Emerald Lake Lodge. We all made it there in one piece thankfully! This was also our first family trip since self isolation and the announcement of COVID. We’ve been very cautious with travelling and felt like things had all been put into place to make things safer now.
We spent two nights at Emerald Lake Lodge. This was our first time even being at Emerald Lake so even just being able to view this sparkling lake was amazing. It was so beautiful. All the pretty fall colours and the colours of the mountains and lakes combined was seriously breathtaking. Not to mention the quiet, clean breathing air and smell of fir all around.
Upon arrival we parked at the guest lodge parking area and called for our shuttle to come pick us up and our luggage. On the little area where the lodge is, there are no outside vehicles allowed. Only lodge vehicles which we really appreciated because it took away so much noise and emissions.
I checked us all in and away we went to our little cabin. It was perfectly situated right across from Emerald Lake so we could walk out onto our patio and see the lake. In our room we had a fireplace full of all the wood we could want to burn, coffee maker, and two double beds. It was so quaint and cozy. No tv, no wifi, no cell service. There is wifi once your in the main lodge!
We didn’t realize how much we needed the quiet until visiting Emerald Lake Lodge. We relaxed in the outdoor hot tub and dined at the restaurant at the main lodge every night we were there. It was that amazing. All four of us recommend the cheesecake, its killer!
COVID safety protocols were on point and covered in lots of different ways including masks required in the shuttle, we wore ours in the main lodge as well except while eating dinner. There is a limited of how many guests can be in the hot tub at one time. Most items are left in the main lodge so they are very awesome about bringing them to your cabin if you need coffee, cream or extra of any supplies!
The lake is located in Yoho National Park so it’s a very short drive to Banff or Columbia Icefields. Full of great spots very nearby to check out as well.
On one of our days we took some time and hiked half way around the lake that eventually leads into the full way around. It was such a peaceful and relaxing stay. Which made it very difficult to leave! We defiantly loved every aspect of this stay and location. Such a great family vacation away!
