Let’s be honest here, travelling with kids is not usually the most relaxing thing in the world. It isn’t always the easiest or the most thrilling. Trust me, we’ve been there! This recent Whistler trip just didn’t exactly go our way the entire time with kids fighting, rain, thunder & lighting, fire ban… etc. But there were a few things that went our way… our visit to the night walk Vallea Lumina, the fun tent experience, the lake just relaxing…
You always have to find the good out of the bad sometimes and we did that. So we’ve gathered up some kid friendly and also budget friendly things we like to do when we’re in Whistler!
Camping at Whistler RV & Campground.
This was our third Summer camping here and it won’t be our last. We had so many people Dming us asking about this place. It’s located a little bit out of the village, which we prefer. It’s a very quiet, clean campground. Located on the campground are two really fun outdoor games the kids love to play. It’s really such a pretty outdoorsy spot to visit if that’s what you like and we love that about this place.
BrandyWine & Alexandria Falls.
Two really amazing easy trails to walk and view some spectacular views and waterfalls. These were both two favourites we loved seeing while there. Gets the kids running off that energy to which is always a win!
Vallea Lumina.
Gosh, this place is a really fun time. The highlight of our recent Whistler trip. It’s a guided night walk on Cougar Mountain. Full of lights, songs, light displays and rangers. It’s themed perfectly for the camper in you. Walking you through the past just a little. We met our group in Whistler Village hopped onto a shuttle that drove us there. Once we walked around, played some outdoor games and sat by the fire, we hopped onto the next shuttle leaving Vallea Lumina. In total we left at 9:20pm and returned close to 11pm. I would recommend wearing proper footwear and maybe pack some water!
LakeSide Park & Alta Lake.
We always stop here at least one day during out trips to Whistler. It’s a super kid friendly lake. With lots of space and docks for kids to jump off of. They also offer rentals and snacks to!
Whistler Village.
Of course, we always stop here and grab a bite to eat. Walk around and just take it all in, grab an ice cream and let the kids play at the park for a little bit while we unwind and re-gather our parenting brains!
Peaked Pies.
Okayyyy and now this place! You have to grab lunch or dinner here. So freaking good! We love the pies here, pot pies and dessert pies. It’s all good!
