KEWE Clothing | Q&A

KEWE  Clothing was one of the first children clothing accounts I ever started to follow on social media. It quickly became a favourite of mine! Around this same time last year I met the lovely lady behind the brand, Angela. It’s been such a pleasure getting to know her & representing her brand KEWE.

She kicks ass when it comes to her brand, keeping it stylish, fresh, fun, unique & comfortable for our little ones. The designs are always one of a kind made up from 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton. Each season she continues to surprise and amaze me with her beautiful line.

Recently, KEWE celebrated their first year of success. Being able to watch Angela over the last year has been so much fun! The amazing things she’s accomplished and watching her kick butt at her buisness while being a fantastic mother is so inspiring!

Q&A With Angela: Co-founder, Designer & Maker of KEWE Clothing

Q: What inspired you to create KEWE? and what continues to inspire you?

A: KEWE was originally inspired by my daughter. When my husband and I found out we were expecting, I wanted to be able to work from home and to build a stable financial future for her. While I knew working from home wasn’t going to be easy, I could have never imagined the struggles I would be faced with today. Working from home is certainly not as glamorous as it seems!

Now, my daughter continues to be (and will always be) an inspiration to me and the growing success of our first year in business is adding fuel to the fire!

Q: What are some things you’ve learnt throughout this last year of creating KEWE?

A: I feel like I am constantly learning new things in business. Fellow makers and artisans have been a wealth of information and a dependable source of support. I think for me, one of the key things I’ve picked up so far is that it’s OKAY to ask for help! It may sound silly to some, but being a work at home mother of one, I often feel like I’m not doing enough. Whether in business, as a wife or as a mother. There is this stigma that raising a family isn’t a ‘job’ and well I can agree in one sense, it is most certainly exhausting! Especially when you are working through the night on your home based business and not setting aside time for self love.

By accepting the help of others I find I am able to be more present during family time, can set aside time to spend with my husband (and for myself) and am much more focused and productive when I have my business hat on -as I don’t have a million other unfinished tasks looming overhead!

Q: Your greatest success so far!

A: Having a profitable business is a HUGE success for me! All of my hopes and aspirations for our first year in business have been far exceeded and I cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for us!

Q: What are your goals the company over the next 3-5 years?

A: I’ve never been one to ‘set goals’ or keep ‘New Year Resolutions’ but I do have some long term goals when it comes to business. I think it’s smart to have timelines in place and it helps me hold myself accountable!

Our main focus over the next 3-5 years is to bring full exclusivity to our brand through textile design and to be able to expand our retail presence.

We are also very excited about our recent partnership with the Joy Smith Foundation, who works to end human trafficking through prevention and rehabilitation programs across Canada.

In the next little while we hope to host some super fun events benefiting the foundations and are very much looking forward to making regular contributions to the foundation through proceeds on sales of our New ‘Strong & Free’ Tees that are available in both infant and adult sizes.

Q: Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for any other ‘Mom Boss’s’??

A:  Don’t loose faith.

You are destined to fail at times, but failure is more likely to lead to success if you are involved in something you are truly passionate about. Make friends. Take risks. Be honest with yourself, your clients and your commitments and don’t be afraid to ask for help! XO
