Us girls go through a lot, let alone our favourite time of the month (enter sarcasm). After hearing about this new thing called the DivaCup, I had to find out a little more and try it myself. Now, this is typical something that I don’t really post about but after reading and finding out how much this could save on wasteful tampons and pads it intrigued me a little. Anything that helps the environment is always a positive thing to do! I have heard fearful horror stories told by girls about this DivaCup and let me tell you the truth, don’t always believe what you hear. It’s NOT that bad.

What is a DivaCup you ask, well it’s the newest look to menstruation. It’s a reusable, silicone, flexible plastic thats 100 percent healthcare grade menstrual cup. It’s all natural and leak proof! It’s also eco-friendly saving you money.

I picked mine up from the local Shoppers Drug Mart in the feminine aisle for $39+tax. It is actually not that bad considering how much a month and year it costs and adds up for other feminine hygiene products. I brought it home and simply followed the instructions of folding the cup and pinching it inside and release. I will say removal is a lot more tricker, so take your time. It will take a couple cycles to fully get the grasp of things. So don’t panic.

I would defiantly suggest reading the User Guide before trying the cup and to consult with their healthcare provider if they have any questions with regards to their vaginal or gynecological health. If your interested in learning more about the cleaning process before and after each use you can find that Here. It’s defiantly something you have to be a little more open minded about. Menstruation happens to every women, we all go through it and we should all just accept it. The DivaCup is one awesome travel buddy as well, super useful and only needs to be changed every 12 hours. And can withhold any activity you do making it completely leak free of course!

To Use: Pinch the cup in half and slightly fold it together, insert and let go! Safe for any shape or size.

You’ll also notice when shopping that theres two different models…Shown Below

  1. DivaCup® Model 1: Recommended for women under the age of 30 who have never delivered vaginally or by caesarean section.
  2. DivaCup® Model 2: Recommended for women age 30 and over/or for women who have delivered vaginally or by caesarean section.

Whichever one you choose, they all work the same! Providing you with carefree stress making that time of the month a little less stressful. The best thing we can do as women and make this an open topic to discuss, to make it an easy thing for everyone to go through and to talk about our struggles and what helps us get through that time of the month for us. It shouldn’t be something we cringe. Thanks to DivaCup I think that they’re helping us in the right direction!
