IKEA Kids Play Kitchen Makeover

Spreading the excitement over here!

I found a steal of a deal over the weekend, and you all know that feeling of finding a sweet deal. It’s the best! Ella and I wandered into our local Value Village for a girls date and stumbled upon the IKEA Play Kitchen. We stood there pondering it for a good 15 minutes. Back and forth debating the idea of snatching it up. Was it nessacery, no. Did we really need it, not really.

But was the deal just to good to pass up, 100%. So we bought it! This bad boy and kitchen accessories came to a whooping $14.99.

Cultus Lake Flower Festival

Another year, another Summer and another visit to Cultus Lake Flower Festival! We had so graciously been invited this year to visit again and us girls were over the moon and literally couldn’t wait to explore the fields of flowers. Last year went so amazing so of course we had to go back again and see this years flourish florals.

Located in Yarrow just a 5 minute drive from Cultus, nestled right close to mountain ranges lives this beautiful place. Locally owned and grown, this flower festival is one of my favourites to visit. Not only can you find a bizillion little and big flowers but it is also such a chill and relaxed place to enjoy while watching the sunset. Located in just the centre of it all are picnic tables and a spacious grassy field to wander around.

I love love love flowers of all sorts and wish that I had a green thumb. I do not. So this place gives me all the excitement. Randomly spread around and it has this special neat but also scattered real feel to a wildflower feel that I’ve never experienced before other than actually being out in nature. Cultus Lake Flower Festival gives all kinds of serene feels and it’s just a great place to spend a Summer evening.

Summer Evenings Enjoying Crescent Beach British Columbia

These little moments enjoying the beautiful places in our own backyard are crucial this Summer with the Covid happenings. We are making every stitch effort we can to still enjoy all the little moments and places that are so close to us including this beauty little spot Crescent Beach.

I say Crescent Beach British Columbia because there is actually a Crescent Beach in Nova Scotia that Drew and I use to visit quite often when we first started to date and it became a special place to us! We even did our wedding photos there!

One day last week we finally had a glimpse of sun and nice weather so my friend Kaila and I packed up our kids one evening and ventured for an adventure! hahaha It was a really sweet time and I’m so lucky we had the chance to spend that time with our friends just exploring and taking it all in. I love spots like this and glad we have this time at home to start taking advantage of exploring here more often creating memories.

While here we both took the opportunity to also snap some really cute pictures of our kids together and they turned out so lovely. If you’re in the mood for a little getaway Blackie Spit & Crescent Beach makes for a sweet time. It is the best photography location, literally perfect photo spots all over the place. Just down the road little spots to grab coffee and treats. We will for sure be heading back again this Summer to enjoy some more views and sand in the toes!

I HEART YOU Valentines Kids Party

It’s all about the little ones this year, and sharing the love on Valentines Day. Celebrating something sweet and meaningful. I love to show the kids some fun and treats on this day and leading up to it. I love that it doesn’t have to be about presents and all about treats. To me it’s about showing them the fun in the day, to celebrate people we love everyday. Appreciation for relationships that matter in our life. And while doing that making it fun and creative!

Okayyyyyy! I’ve started the Valentines Day vibes over here. I’m not one to celebrate every little holiday but I always make a exception for of course Christmas and Valentines Day. Which is something basically imprinted from a very young age with my mother!

I love to be able to create something small and something thats fun and different for the kids to enjoy. Doesn’t always have to be big and beautiful. Or expensive. Something they can do with me.

Today Ella and I had some quiet time and put together some fun things to celebrate. These Tic Tac Toe treats you can enjoy for yourself or even treat your friends. Easy to make and fun to play with!

If by some chance it doesn’t happen to you, can you fully admit that you are prepared, you know what to look out for and what to do?? As a family we’re always making sure we’re up to date and know what to look for when it comes to natural gas leaks. My husband is always on top of things, which had me thinking… Do I know what to look for or know what to do if I smelled natural gas when he wasn’t home? I really started to make sure that I read and researched everything I could to help myself. I followed him around our home and made sure I knew of the possibilities of where a leak could come from.

I think that it’s really important and handy to know what to do when you smell natural gas. Just having that peace of mind helps our family feel safe. Thankfully FortisBC has given and provided a lot of information and resources to help us out! Natural gas is a sneaky one as it’s odourless and colourless, trace amounts of a chemical called mercaptan that smells like rotten eggs is added to help you detect a potential natural gas leak.

So let’s get started on a few things. Now that you kind of have an understanding of natural gas safety, let’s talk more on what to do if you smell rotten eggs, and some precautions to help you before you smell it!

Know What To Do If You Smell Natural Gas:

  • Before anything right now what your sitting on the computer research and watch some great videos courtesy of FortisBC http://bit.ly/GasOdour they have been a huge resource for our family.
  • If you or a loved one smells rotten eggs, stop what you’re doing
  • Leave your home
  • Call FortisBC’s 24 hour emergency line 1-800-663-9911 or 911

Taking measures before you detect natural gas is the best idea for all homeowners. Our family has gone through all the steps and listed what we have done below just to be sure.

Things To Do Before You Smell Natural Gas:

  • Do your research make sure you read articles like this one or watch videos just to help educate yourself and your family.
  • Get annual maintenance on all your natural gas appliances and equipment
  • Write up “what to do” and emergency contact numbers for when you’re not home and a babysitter may be home or the kids are alone.

As long as you’re keeping up to date with your home inspections, resources and know what to do you’ll feel better as a parent. It can happen to anyone, knowing you’ve taken the right measurements and used the resources available from FortisBC will give you peace of mind!

Our Family Stay At Pacific Sands Beach Front Resort | Tofino

It’s not very often that our family finds the time to go on vacation. With Drew’s hectic work schedule and Owen in school right now it’s almost impossible to find time to sneak away. Somehow the stars aligned and we managed to do it. All thanks to BC Ferries and Pacific Sands Resort. We had the best time the four of us hanging out and just relaxing taking in all the quietness. A Day In Our Life.

A Day In Our Life.

In all honesty, this should be titled A Day In Our Saturday Life. Our weekday life is a little more chaotic & unorganized. But instead of dragging you through our weekly chaos of work, soccer games, soccer practice, daycare, after school daycare, blog work & appointments in between. It’s hard to keep up some days, except for Saturdays. They are our days of somewhat resting. The days that we sort of sleep in & kind of do nothing while doing things all at the same time. If that makes sense!
