Every year around this time we are always getting our checklist checked off and visiting IRIS is always that one thing we do every year for both kids. Eye exams and any last minute prescription changes, lens and frame upgrades if needed.

Today I finished my yearly eye exam with gold stars!
Felt so good to hear all the cool facts about my eye health and where they’re at today.
…A few weeks ago, I was visiting my local IRIS location. Browsing my way through all the frames, trying to find the best pair to suit me and my style. When I stumbled upon a really cool, unique line named LYA. Interested in all of them, my curious self asked, what is LYA? Without hesitation the staff were very eager to tell me all about the new frame brand. LYA; “Love You All” is something the founder of IRIS, Dr. Francis Jean would often say and finish off with this beautiful saying.
It was his trademark that IRIS wanted to continue to keep his memory. It is also their motto in how the company is passionate about people and helping! Designed by Catherine O, the same designer behind Ziggy, Jean Reno and JF Rey brands.
…Yup, you read that right. Every year at about this same time of year, our whole family rounds up for our traditional eye exam at IRIS. It’s honestly a fun time of year too, because that’s when I know that school is about to start soon and that everyone is all geared up and prepared for the rest of the school year. Change up glasses or the prescription. Whatever it may be, everything eye related we get covered at IRIS.
…Dare I even mention it to loudly, to soon, but parents the countdown is on! The back to school countdown, wahooo! Now I know it’s still vacation mode time but being able to tackle that to-do list before everyone else feels really good. I have to say. This week we started with the kids yearly eye care checkups and making sure they’re all caught up on appointments at our local IRIS and that glasses are good to go for the start of the school year!

Summer season is upon us. Can you feel it? The hot days that lead into warm evenings. The sun seems to be lasting longer for us throughout the day and with that we’ve been reminding ourselves to protect our eyes. I mean it definitely doesn’t have to be a chore. It can be something really, really fun when you include Sunglasses and IRIS. When it’s nice out we generally feel the want to spend our whole day outside soaking in all the suns beauty. It’s super important to not only stylize our eyes but to also take care of our eye health.
…The start of this year had brought on some exciting news for us… drum roll… we are officially members of the IRIS Vision year long family! We were thrilled with this news. I mean we have always been a huge fan of IRIS and a little sentimental when it comes to using them. They were the first place we had gone to when we first realized that Owen needed glasses. He was turning 5 years old and now 10!
…Looking back 5 years ago – I wish that I would’ve taken eye care a little more seriously. When Owen was a baby we did all of the check-ups and appointments for his health and well-being. Except for one, his eyesight. Owen didn’t have his eyes examined until he was five years old and starting his first year of school. We just assumed that his eyesight was good since he showed no signs of struggling. Shortly after that exam, he was set up with a pair of glasses and ever since then, I’ve carried a lot of guilt around with me.…
Many of us adults have had a routine eye exam with our optometrist. All great, but there’s so much more to great eye health so lately I’ve been researching and learning more about the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) and the benefits that come from medical expert consultations with an ophthalmologist….
