The Marmalade Motel | Nova Scotia

Well, I have to say it was quite a treat to be able to visit The Marmalade Motel in Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. My son Owen and I made a one night stop on our way through from Liscombe to Mahone Bay. When we pulled up it was just so serene and quiet, I knew it was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind a little. We pulled up as soon as well saw the sweet little signs on the edge of the road. We checked our email for our keycode and located beside the door was a little box where we could open it up with our special code and unlocked our door.

As soon as you walk inside each room at The Marmalade Motel, you’ll see each one of the 8 guest rooms is brightly decorated & designed for the love of the sea and bright fun style. We stayed in the Flora & Fauna room. Equipped with a queen bed and they did leave a cot for Ella set up in the room, but miss Ella decided to stay with my mom instead. It has a fully kept bathroom, tv, clothes hanger, side tables with charging stations and a private patio with chairs. Not to mention the most beautiful ocean front views that leave you feeling like it’s your own private viewing.

In front of The Marmalade Motel they have a fireplace with many chairs gathered around it, yard games and a private dock that is easily accessible to any guest staying. Our first evening we went down and played the yard games and toured the private dock. It was a super chill evening just how we like it. We went back to our room and watched a never ending amount of movies. Tucked in and fell asleep for the night. They are, I should also mention Pet Friendly & Non-Smoking.

Dining Experience

Something that I really cherish when I travel is in room dining. So when making your reservation you can add on special in room dining packages and even picnic add ons. Not to mention breakfast in bed, sweet treat boxes for when you get that sweet tooth. Chaucterie box that is the perfect grazing treat for your day. We had the pleasure of trying the sweet tooth box, I’ve gotta say it’s loaded haha it was delicious and had a wide variety of special treats for Owen and I to share together. We also indulged in the Breakfast in Bed add on. Thats literally my favourite part of any trip, lounging in bed with my coffee and munching of goodies to get the day started.

Special Events

They also host special events for occasions. Intimate weddings and celebrations for parties. Like birthdays or family reunions. They have rental options and help coordinate your stay. The Maramlade Motel has the perfect location for any outdoor gatherings with the huge front lawn area with games and a bonfire.

Things To Do

Sober Island Boat tours is not too far from here and they offer family boat tours starting at $50. Sober Island Brewing is just in town to visit. Along with Kayaking, Historic Village and a 1940’s town. Some great local restaurants and Taylor Head Beach trail. Which we tried to make happen but on our way it down-poured. So fingers crossed we make our way back here one day.

Something I really loved about staying here to was the home feeling it brought to us. The owners had really taken over this motel project and poured their love into this thing. They brought it new, vibrant life and they are also a huge part of what makes The Marmalade Motel so special. Fairly new to the Eastern Shore they really just embarked on a new journey to restore the once older styled motel into a beautiful modern and fun loving place to rest for the night. They are amazingly gracious and kind people and I adore the hospitality they share here.

If you ever get the opportunity to stay here please do, you will not be disappointed. There are many things to enjoy in this area that they also share on their website for you. The Eastern Shore makes for a beautiful drive!
