I’m not sure if it’s just Drew and I but we get overly excited when we find new gadgets that we get to learn more about and play with. Especially when it comes to our home! Best Buy is always surprising us with fun things like this. We recently had the chance to learn more about the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect. I mean this smart lock is the smartest thing we have installed. It’s full of bells and whistles to keep your family safe and your home safe.
First things first, we got out the manual and started to read all about August Locks and how to install. All the cool things it can do and how simple it can really make life for a busy family always on the go. You’d be super surprised to learn that installation only took us at the most 20 minutes. No locksmith was needed at all. It was just as simple as screwing off your old lock inside and placing the August Lock up and screwing that in. Only the interior lock gets changed while the outside stays exactly the same.
The round design makes it perfect to carefully turn and still deadlock your door when inside. When leaving you can either use your turn key or if your hands are usually full like mine are you can totally download the app and set it up to lock it on your phone on the go.
It will also do the same when you’re coming home and again hands are full, well no problem, with a simple button click it opens up automatically from your phone. How cool is that!
If you also have someone in your family that usually can’t remember if they locked the door or not while on your way out (cough cough Drew) well again, easy, press that button on your phone and viola locked! Feeling that sense of security whether you’re home, down the street running errands or away on vacation. You will always be able to control and monitor your home with this August Lock + App no matter where you might be.
More cool features on this device is that it’s voice controlled with a WIFI base it can connect to any device in your home. So by connecting it to your google assistant or siri it can also understand and listen to your controls with your voice.
No more leaving keys hidden or under the mat for kids. Essentially it is like a digital key where you get to control access to whoever comes or goes. I mean it doesn’t get much cooler & secure than that. We had the chance to try it out with Owen today after school and he came home off the bus. He easily made his way inside the home. August lock makes life just that much easier and gives us peace of mind.
And no fear either if you lose your phone you can disable your app by visiting Lostphone.august.com and if maybe your phone dies while you’re out, that’s okay because you can still use your key for access. It’s become such a handy device in our home and really doesn’t take up much space or headache to install and set up.
Best Buy Canada is continuously searching out the coolest stuff to offer to our families and that’s one thing Drew and I have in common is our love for cool gadgets. Yes, Best Buy would be one of our favourites to visit and even consider a visit a date night visit. We could truly spend lots of time browsing it all.
