5 Simple Ways To Freshen Up Your Living Room | Our Before & After

In April Drew and I celebrated our 2nd home owning anniversary! Exciting moment for us and still pinch ourselves that we own our own place. It’s our home and little by little we’ve been making our own changes, freshening things up a bit and putting our own touch to everything all while staying on a budget.

Little changes can be big ones in the end. So when we decided it was time to refreshen up our living room just a little bit, we didn’t really go crazy on spending money on everything but just little things we knew we needed and knew would make a big difference.

Everything turned out for us in the end and after a lot of work! I think the most work was researching curtains and drapes, where to buy what to use… so many decisions and choices! We went with these fresh and airy floral drapes from Anthropologie. LOVE THEM! Probably my most favourite purchase I’ve made in a long time. When you see the before and after photos you will see that theres not really anything much more different. But the after still blows me away with how great it looks. How much more open the space seems to be and brighter to! It’s incredible.

Soooo if your in the mood to dress up your living room a little bit here are 5 Simple Ways We Freshened Up Our Living Room. Easy stuff and won’t break the bank either….

  1. Florals // They go hand in hand. Any room can be transformed by flowers. I just can’t explain it but it just brings out all the colours and good vibes.
  2. Paint // Wall colour I find totally makes or breaks a room and the space. We have been going with white for now with a mix of dark navy blue. It makes the room feel more open and way more airy.
  3. Diffuser // Gahhh I’m obsessed with our Vitruvi Diffuser and oils. I recently had this cute hexagon oil shelf made from Valley Living Design. It was made for this space. Oils and having scents running all day smell so good and feel so relaxing.
  4. Drapery // Before you notice the drapes that were in the living room before by the previous owner. Well having a lighter colour and a pair that just slightly touches the floor adds more space to a room. We also went with just a touch of see through so we can still have some light shining through.
  5. Room Decor // Whether it be on the walls or just pieces around the room. Adds character. My favourite as you can tell are cream coloured candles. I find them at different shops and lets face it you can never have tooo many!

We lucked out and found some pieces of furniture from Wayfair, which I’m utterly obsessed with. Beautiful pieces and free shipping to the door is always a bonus in my books!
